Business Coaching
Interpersonal and organizational transformation is the focus of Larry Julian's business coaching. In this process, Larry works with leaders to develop specific business skills and/or directly impact their organization.
Larry's goal is to meet all people at their point of need, regardless of where they are spiritually, personally, and/or professionally. Communication is done appropriately, with discretion and sensitivity. During the needs assessment phase, Larry works with key leaders to determine the appropriate approach based on the organization's unique needs and goals.
Previous business coaching contracts have included:
- Helped leaders develop and communicate their vision and mission effectively; encouraging employees to take ownership of a company's mission.
- Strategic planning facilitation.
- Conflict resolution, teambuilding, and win-win partnership development.
- Helped CEOs build better relationships with Board Members.
- Developed a corporate director's personal leadership and communication skills to enhance her ability to direct a 600-employee team.
- Coached a high visibility non-profit organization executive whose accountability reached to several organizations.
- Helped a high-level political figure who wanted to enhance his personal communication style.
Larry Julian understands today's bottom line business environment. His years of experience working in highly political and oftentimes public circumstances are proof that trust, sensitivity, and wise counsel are essential for a successful outcome. Therefore, he conducts business coaching engagements with the highest level of integrity and confidentiality.
While every coaching assignment is unique, the process itself uses the following basic steps:
- Assess the client's needs and goals
- Develop a mutually agreed-upon plan uniquely designed to achieve your desired goals
- Identify and implement a process to follow through on the plan
The consulting process varies based on the needs of the organization. Take teambuilding or win-win partnerships, for example. While the concepts of teambuilding and win-win partnerships sound good, the reality is that politics, egos and differing agendas often get in the way of true team success. To develop win-win partnerships and successful teams, Larry Julian uses a facilitated process that initiates open communication and minimizes win-lose personal agendas. To maximize success, he follows three steps during a facilitated teambuilding or partnership session:
Phase One: The Diagnostic or Preparation Stage
Larry Julian gains a deeper understanding of the issues, expectations and goals of the respective parties involved. This typically occurs via one-on-one meetings, phone surveys, and/or written surveys.
Phase Two: The Facilitated Event
Larry brings the parties together to form a team or partnership. Each of the following five steps is facilitated.
- Perspective - Gain a clear understanding of the issues and obstacles to team success
- Purpose - Determine the shared vision and common purpose
- Positions - Clarify the roles, responsibilities and expectations between parties
- Process - Gain consensus on strategies and procedures to overcome obstacles and achieve the shared vision of success
- Performance - Develop measurements of success and ways to celebrate victories
Phase Three: The Follow-Through Process
This process involves establishing accountability and reaching agreement with all parties regarding how and when mutual agreements will be followed up on.
